Kingston HyperX Predator 2400 MHz C11 2x 4 GB Review

Introduction

I had the opportunity to cover two Kingston kits recently, and both definitely had a different approach to meeting the needs of the end user. Although both products were quite different, there's more to Kingston's enthusiast line-up for those not covered by other kits. Finding a RAM kit that matches your new motherboard and VGA nicely is obviously a big deal to many users, and rarely does a product launch without contrasting with other parts in ways some users can't accept.

The previous two kits I covered were a bit small in physical size, providing good compatibility with large aftermarket coolers. Some users, however, decide that air-cooling is just not enough and use either a custom-built water loop or pre-built All-in-One watercooling unit, with both situations leading to lower airflow inside the case. Such lowered internal airflow can affect the stability of some parts, mainly high-end memory with speeds of 2400 MHz or higher. A quick look at any online shop will show that most kits with speeds over 2133 MHz also include a fan for precisely this reason. Combining low-profile, high-performance DIMMs with low airflow can be catastrophic.

Kingston is well aware of this problem and has as of late released very few products with speeds of 2400 MHz, and nearly none above that, but what about those users with low airflow? What high-end memory can they use without worry of failure? The HyperX Predator answers that call!
