Efficiency

Using the results we gathered so far, we plotted a chart showing the PSU's efficiency at low loads and loads ranging from 10 to 110 percent of the maximum-rated capacity.

For such a budget-centric PSU, efficiency is quite high at all load ranges.

10%–110% Load Testing

These tests reveal the PSU's load regulation and efficiency levels under high ambient temperatures and show how the fan-speed profile behaves under harsh operating conditions.

This PSU doesn't struggle with 350 W at almost 35 °C ambient. I didn't put a load of 400 W on it, but instead followed my testing protocol, which had me apply a maximum load of 385 W at 37 °C, which the PSU also handled well.

Light Load Testing

In the following tests, we measure the PSU's efficiency at loads significantly lower than 10% of the maximum capacity (the lowest load, the 80 PLUS standard measures). This is important for when a PC is idle with its power-saving features turned on.

The fan spins at low RPM at light loads, and efficiency levels are high.

The 5VSB rail is not very efficient.
