Introduction

Lexar has made a name for itself in the portable storage market—they are very well known for their SD cards and USB drives, so it's natural for them to expand into other areas of flash storage, like consumer SSDs. Lexar was founded as a subsidiary of Micron, but was sold to Longsys in 2017 and has been operating quite independently since.



In today's review we're looking at the Lexar NM800 Pro with Heatsink, which is the company's current flagship solid-state-drive. Under the hood, the NM800 Pro is based on the Innogrit IG5236 PCI-Express 4.0 controller, which we've seen on other drives such as the Acer Predator GM7000, Netac NV7000 and ADATA XPG Gammix S70 before. While Innogrit is a fairly new player on the SSD market, their controllers have quickly gained a solid reputation as they are cost-efficient designs that offer good performance. As the name suggests, Lexar is including a heatsink with the drive at no additional charge. The TLC NAND flash is Micron's highly-popular B47R with 176-layers. A DRAM cache chip is included, too,

The Lexar NM800 Pro is available in capacities of 512 GB ($58), 1 TB ($78) and 2 TB ($130). Endurance for these models is set to 500 TBW, 1000 TBW and 2000 TBW, respectively. Lexar includes a five-year warranty with the NM800 Pro.
