  • Keyboard drawer can be placed in front at various heights

  • Extremely well-rounded package of extras
  • Tray may be locked to deter anyone from getting into the table
  • Fairly silent considering the eight fans
  • Very good liquid-cooling possibilities (2x 240 mm radiator)
  • At least one ODD for either system
  • Expensive—the cost of being unique
  • Will tip forward under some circumstances
  • You will be hard-pressed to connect all eight fans to two boards without some sort of controller
  • Shape results in an unusual desktop setup
  • Lock in front is great, but you could still lift up the glass top to get inside
  • Installing cooling in front does not allow for dust filters to be used

  • Only one ODD bay
We usually adhere to the following guideline when it comes to cases: If it delivers on its promises for a justifiable price as compared to similar products on the market, we give it a 7/10. The chassis gets a higher score if it offers something new and exciting, but at a price, or is able to offer something similar in both functionality and quality at a lower price. With the Lian Li DK-02X, all that flies out the window immediately.

In essence, you are buying a designer table and two cases. Considering what a designer table would set you back by in combination with two upper- to mid-range cases, the Lian Li DK-02X suddenly does not sound as expensive anymore. There is also the space-saving factor, and things could become even more intriguing for some since Lian Li completely decks the DK-02X out with fans—such usually isn't so with individual cases.

But before we continue down the line to justify the price and/or existence of the DK-02X, let us take a look at what it offers in terms of cases. You are able to install an ITX and an ATX system within the table. The ability to put two systems into one chassis is nothing new as there are a few (really tall) towers or wide cubes out there that allow for such a configuration, and those solutions usually do not cost more than a few hundred dollars at most. But Lian Li's DK-02X has two identical sets of I/O and you can easily install liquid cooling into the drawer for both systems. So the chassis fares extremely well if you look at it in terms of nothing but its case-specific feature set.

This brings us back to the format: It is a table. As mentioned, the biggest issue is the tipping point of the desk, which may be perilous to some, especially children who may feel the urge to climb it to look at the blinking lights within. But considering that the DK-02X is not meant to be around unsupervised kids to instead be the cool centerpiece at a hotel reception or corner office, this may be forgiven. That said, you will need to get used to the "thick" table top and will most likely end up splurging a few hundred dollars on some fancy monitor arms to really make the most of the Lian Li DK-02X. It is ultimately an incredibly cool and surprisingly functional piece of furniture, but for a price where things like monitor arms or the cost of high-end hardware to show it off tend to be an affordable necessity to those who essentially drop five times as much as other do on two all-aluminum cases. To that crowd, having something as unique, but functional as this is all that counts, and to that crowd, we can totally recommend the DK-02X.
