A Closer Look - Outside

When looking at the chassis from the outside, it comes across as a shrunk version of the Lian Li PC-V1020 series. So it will be interesting to see what makes the PC-V600F so special, as both cases of them cost roughly the same. The biggest design aspect is the fact, that one piece of Aluminum has been bent around the front and top of the chassis, while another one goes down the back and across the bottom of the chassis.

Taking a quick look at the front, the case has one drive bay less than its bigger brother the PC-V1020, but still manages to fit two 120 mm fans below it. In the rear, the chassis is different as well, as the black part covers most of the rear, which is not the case with the larger variant.

Both sides of the chassis are completely solid, featuring no air vents or fans. A little tab on each side makes the removal of these panel much easier. There are no screws holding them in place. Instead plastic pins are used as we will see later on.

In the bottom of the front, the entire panel has circular perforations, which act as an air vent for the two fans behind it. A Lian Li logo has also been placed here. Above that are the two 5.25 inch bays. One comes with a functional cover to hide a DVD drive behind, while the bottom one is plain. It would have been nice to see a 5.25 to 3.5" adapter in this one instead - like in the PC-V1020.

In the rear, the bottom mounted PSU may be installed with the fan facing downward or upward. Above that are the four mainboard expansion slots and the cutout for the backplate. Interestingly enough there are no openings for water cooling tubing, plain air vents or the possibility to install a fan here. Instead, there is a solid wall. This means all the hot air is pulled out by the fan in the ceiling of the chassis instead.

You will find all the I/O on the top of the chassis. Lian Li is moving their entire product line to USB 3.0, thus the PC-V600F has only the new generation of Universal Serial Bus. This makes the inclusion of the afore mentioned adapter a necessity as a lot of people still have USB 2.0 boards. You will find a 140 mm exhaust fan above the CPU area of the mainboard under a stylish air vent.
