Lofree is a recently established keyboard brand with a portmanteau of "love" and "free" for the brand name. It seeks to offer high-quality products throughout emphasizing style and substance. We first encountered the Lofree brand through a press release published in May talking about three new keyboards, and Mechkeys then inquired as to whether I would like to examine one. Here we are then introducing Lofree to the TechPowerUp review database, and thanks to both Lofree and Mechkeys for providing a review sample of the Lofree 1% keyboard.
Yes, it is named the Lofree 1%, but is not a 1% layout keyboard, which would be a single key for Morse code memes. Instead, this is a 65% keyboard with dedicated arrow keys for a smaller form factor build. The 1% in the name is purely marketing—as in the top 1% of keyboards out there and worthy of your attention. Lofree backs up this claim with a few different features, the most novel of which is an extremely backlighting-first design courtesy a transparent chassis and transparent keycaps paired with a clear set of switches, too. Wireless connectivity is also on board, but let's not pretend that the unique aesthetics and lighting are what you are here for, after all. We'll examine both and much more in our review that begins with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
