My package got wrinkled up a bit during shipping, and it's also the Asian market variant. As far as I know, the contents are the same for the western models as well, which means we get the mouse and a small quick-start guide only—no replacement mouse feet unfortunately, which is quite the letdown.
Shape
This is an enormous rat. It's long, has a high profile, and is wide overall, though the width at which it is gripped is much narrower due to the deep thumb grooves. The design is made for right-handed people mainly, especially for those who prefer a palm grip and have medium to large hands. It can work with smaller hands as well depending on individual preferences, but I wouldn't recommend it.
It's not easy to describe the way this mouse feels when gripped. It really fills the user's palm, yet not in an overly bulky way because of the grooves and lips the shell features. The whole right side is slanted a bit, and the main buttons don't feature any distinct comfort grooves. The G MX518 feels very consistent as there are no unnecessary elements, such as ledges made entirely for design purposes. It's a very well designed mouse shell overall, which was one of the main reasons for the popularity of its predecessors—Logitech did the right thing by bringing it back, that's for sure.
Moving on to the measurements, the G MX518 is 131 mm (5.16") long, which means it's rather long. The total width is 73 mm (2.87"), but depending on your grip style, the actual width at which it is gripped is way narrower at about 55–59 mm (2.32"). The total height is 43 mm (1.69"), and the hump is a bit towards the back. With these dimensions, I would mainly recommend this mouse to palm grippers with hands that are at least 17–18 cm long. However, it can work with different grip styles and hand sizes outside of those parameters as well since it's all a matter of personal preference.
