At 1600 g, the Montech Metal DT24 Premium is certainly a chunky cooler in terms of overall heft. It actually comes in above the Noctua NH-D15 and DeepCool Gamer Storm Assassin III, which weigh in at 1320 g and 1464 g, respectively. The dual tower design has two fin stacks made up of 52 aluminium fins that feature a black coating to match the aluminium top plate. That said, the most important readily apparent feature is the cutaway fins, which allow for better memory clearance. At the same time, Montech states perfect memory compatibility, which if we're honest, isn't true. While the cutaway fins will certainly help, it is more complex than the marketing would like you to believe.
The Metal DT24 Premium has a rated TDP of 270 watts. While that doesn't mean a whole lot for end users, it is quite high; with that said, a high rating does not always make for a great cooler, so keep that in mind. Overall the design here doesn't break the mold or even really do anything different compared to previously released designs, but increased competition alone is never a bad thing, especially if performance is up to par.
The top plate is black brushed aluminium with an ARGB accent around the outer edge. This should give the cooler a nice visual touch without being excessive. As for the base, it is nickel-plated and slightly convex, with machining marks that are somewhat visible but cannot be felt.
Montech's fan design is also quite hefty, with a solid frame that suits the overall visual theme of the cooler. Dubbed the METAL 120 PWM, the two fans included with the cooler feature an hydro-dynamic-bearing and have an RPM range of 800 to 1950. The specific model number for these fans is MET-BK121950-GF.
