Yes, some of the pictures above are the same as from the first wrist rest a couple of pages ago, but these were the first ones taken! Moon Key had sent two similarly sized wrist rests, which makes for the ability to use the same outer box, and it confirms that the unboxing experience for wrist rests is going to be the same with the hand-written note, foam sheet, and cleaning cloth in that order before we get to the wrist rest itself. This one is slightly larger than the previous one and thus does not need the extra foam pieces on either side of the wrist rest that snugly fit the single, larger foam cutout surrounding it for protection in transit.
It would be fair to say that the whole Koi pond theme has been widely used for keycaps and keyboard designs, so seeing it extend to artisan wrist rests just felt natural. Indeed, Moon Key has several different themes centering around the Koi fish, and this particular one is simply called "Koi Pond hand painted wrist rest," with others more complex in the design, too. There are again multiple sizes to choose from, and this time around, the base is actual wood. Moon Key offers custom finishes for free here, including for the wood type/color and color of the fish insert, which is quite cool if I say so myself.
The finish is much better here, and the same wooden base may be used throughout, which helps with the resin poured all over and given the same polishing as before. The wood grains show up well on the sides and back alike, and the rubber pads are different from before even though numbering the same and behaving similarly in practice.
While the theme may be similar, this particular take emphasizes the pond ecosystem very well. There is of course the centerpiece—a large koi fish insert that is flatter than you would think coming from first impressions, with the patterned skin, gills, eyes, and fins alike. There are even whiskers, and this weird attention to detail comes off well once you see the faux moss on the bottom, algal covering the wood, and even some of the leaves floating or seemingly moving in the water. There are a few flower petals which seem out of place, but calling this a gorgeous wrist rest would not be a hard reach. There is no color shift based on the viewing angle, so I have a single photo of the wrist rest, once again paired with the Anne Pro 2 that is slightly smaller in size relative to the wrist rest.
