A look Inside

To access any user-swappable components, you will need to do some disassembly because MSI decided not to offer access hatches on the GL62 6QF-628. First, you will need to remove the plastic bar between the hinges at the back; it is held in place with some plastic tabs so be gentle. Then, remove the screws on the bottom, including the one hiding behind the warranty void sticker. Keep in mind that doing so will obviously void your warranty.

Now, remove the optical drive and the three screws underneath it, before carefully lifting up the plastic shell and working your way toward the other side. With it fully removed, you now have access to the system's hardware.

The battery can be removed, but tracking another down may prove difficult. Two RAM slots are available, but MSI sadly went with a single DDR4 8 GB SO-DIMM from Samsung instead of using two 4 GB sticks for a dual-channel setup. This laptop uses a Western Digital 1TB Scorpio Blue 5400 RPM hard drive. An M.2 Slot near the optical drive's SATA port is for those who would like to utilize an SSD and an HDD.
