Packaging

The Vigor GK30 Gaming Combo arrives in a rather wide cardboard box because it contains a keyboard and a mouse. The package is dominated by MSI's signature colors, as well as a lot of render pictures, technical specifications, and of course, a good amount of marketing text. Once opened, you can access the products and two small quick-start booklets.

Vigor GK30 Keyboard

At first glance, the GK30 keyboard looks like a more expensive product than it is, as it has a floating design and very much resembles a true mechanical claviature. In reality, it's not. It has a rubber-dome membrane actuation mechanism with a plastic slider housing, so it doesn't feel as cheap and mushy as your average low-cost membrane keyboard. Of course, it doesn't feel anything like a real mechanical keyboard, either. Thankfully, they didn't go with a fake-clicky or tactile mechanism; it's a simple linear actuation.

The GK30 weighs about 1042 grams, which is fair considering its size and materials. It can flex a little, but is rather massive and hefty overall for an all-plastic model. I could find no outstanding build quality issues, either.

The legends on the keycaps look like what you'd expect from a low-budget gaming keyboard. I know a lot of keyboard enthusiasts who could swear for minutes after taking a glance at these letters, but I'm not one of them, mostly because I don't really look at my keyboard while typing. The keys have an OEM profile that isn't aggressively high.
