Board Software
MSI has included a huge amount of software with the MSI Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON. It begins with Fast Boot, a tool that helps you get into the BIOS from within the OS without any fuss. Then there's Live Update6, which will help you keep your software tools and drivers up to date.
When you want to overclock from within the OS, you have full control via the MSI Command Center software, which also offers fan-tuning options. When you want an automated tool, you can turn to X-Boost.
The MSI Dragon Eye software lets you watch videos while playing a game, while the gaming app lets you do some modest overclocking or underclocking of your MSI hardware with just a few clicks.
Killer Control is a new Killer utility to help manage LAN traffic, while MSI RamDisk obviously provides RamDisk support for those who need it.
MSI includes their own skinned version of CPU-Z, along with Super Charger, for boosted charging (to supported devices).
MSI's Smart Tool helps create a USB stick for Windows 7 installation and software RAID on the MSI Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON. MSI X-Boot does some automatic performance profiling, while the Nahimic Audio utility helps make the provided audio just that much better (it really does).
You also get Intel's XTU tool and a DPC Latency Tuner Tool to help optimize DPC latency.
There are also two online-gaming specific tools, WTFast for game network optimization and XSplit for streaming duties.
I can see how many of these tools won't be needed by all users, but a huge number of these will get a lot of use by those a bit more focused on online gaming and streaming. Given that really properly describes who this board is intended for, the choice of software here could not be any better suited.
