ASUS GeForce RTX 4090 STRIX Unboxing
The ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 4090 O24G is the company's premium air-cooled RTX 4090 custom-design. It introduces a slick new, cyberpunk-looking design, which isn't just the largest air-cooled graphics card ASUS ever built, but is also the largest RTX 4090 we have with us right now. Bold, matte-design elements, pair with black, blue, and red accents, and several zones of addressable RGB LED lighting. The cooler shroud is made entirely of metal, and the best part of it, near the flow-through vent, features a ROG logo made from diamond engraving this metal surface.
The ROG Strix RTX 4090 comes in a colorful paperboard box with conventional side lids. The box art lists out the various features and specs of the card.
The paperboard box is actually an outer cover for a sturdier cardboard inner box. This opens to reveal the card straight up. But there's lots more.
Besides the card, you get the NVIDIA-designed power adapter that converts four 8-pin PCIe power connectors to a 12+4 pin ATX12VHPWR connector, a metal graphics card retention holder designed specifically for this card that counteracts PCB bending over time; some documentation, and a Velcro cable-tie.
This is easily the best-looking ASUS graphics card we've seen. A matte alloy makes up most of the cooler shroud, with chrome or diamond-cut edges. The chrome accents combine with the metallic blue and red ones; and the card's RGB lighting, to give the card a very cyberpunk look, as we mentioned.
The PCB is less than two-thirds the 35.5 cm length of the card itself, which means all of the airflow from the third fan, and some from the second one, flow through the cooler and out through vents in the card's backplate. The card draws power from a 12+4 pin 12VHPWR connector. Display outputs include three DisplayPorts, and two HDMI.
Besides the power connector, there are a few important details on the card. The first one is a BIOS switch, letting you toggle between the two BIOS ROMs this card comes with. The second is a pair of 4-pin PWM case-fan headers, letting you sync your case's cooling with the GPU temperature.
The card is 35.5 cm in length and 3 slots thick. It weighs 2.504 kg, making it the heaviest RTX 4090 in our possession.
The ROG Strix RTX 4090 dwarfs the Founders Edition card, which is already gigantic card. There's no way this card will be comfortable in mid-tower cases. You may want to explore full-tower cases.
