I ran Unigine Heaven to evaluate the performance differences in different testing scenarios.
The card's stock clocks and the overclocking frequencies that I applied with both PCIe cables are shown in the GPU-Z screenshots above.
Whether you use a 450 W or 600 W cable, the results are the same at stock clocks.
The 600 W cable made a difference in overclocking, but I cannot say that the difference is notable, at 2.62%.
GPU and VRAM Speeds
The average speeds are about the same in the GPU.
The average GPU speeds under overclocking are the same, so one wonders why the performance increase? It seems the GPU or the RAM make fewer rendering calculation errors with the increased power limits, causing a lower power limit to lower the overall score. Remember that GDDR6X has a certain amount of error correction, which is why using benchmarks is important. A frequency may seem "stable," but if the modules are being forced to correct errors from either not enough power or too much frequency, this may actually lead to lower performance at higher clocks, when the silicon limit is surpassed or the card doesn't isn't supplied enough power.
Operating Temperatures
With the 600 W cable, I noticed a notable decrease in the GPU temperature.
Again, the GPU runs coolers with the 600 W cable, but the difference is minimal in this case.
Fan Speed
I expected higher fan speeds with the 600 W cable to justify the lower GPU temperatures, but as you can see, the fan speeds are lower! As it seems, with the 600 W cable, the card's VRMs operate smoother.
Power Consumption
With the 600 W cable, the average power consumption of the GPU is lower at stock speeds. With increased clocks, the GPU's power consumption is about 6.5 W higher with the 600 W cable.
