Value and Conclusion

  • The NZXT C1500 1500 W retails for around $355.
  • Delivers and exceeds its rated power output at high (>40°C) ambient temperature
  • Platinum level efficiency at high ambient temperature
  • Passive until 50% load is reached and very silent up until the highest loads
  • Very good voltage regulation on the +12 V rail
  • Very good build quality and components
  • Very good ripple suppression
  • Plenty of connectivity
  • ATX 3.1 support
  • Very good power factor correction
  • 10-year warranty
  • Could have slightly better voltage regulation on the minor rails
  • Nylon sleeving might not be everyone's preferred choice for cables
The NZXT C1500 showed a really strong performance in our comprehensive testing. While the voltage regulation could be better and the nylon sleeving of the modular cables might not be my cup of tea, there really is not much to dislike about the C1500. It has fantastic build quality, great efficiency, and excellent ripple suppression. Plus it can do all that without making too much noise. It also supports the latest ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards and has plenty of connectivity to unleash the rated 1500 watts of power. It is not flashy and its muted aesthetic would compliment a no-RGB build nicely.

Then we come to the value question. We need to consider that we are in the 1.5 kW range and the unit's overall performance. If you're looking for a powerful PSU with Platinum efficiency levels, there are some options, but not that many. One could mention the Seasonic Prime PX-1600 or its more premium brother, the Prime TX-1600. On the more value oriented side we can find Cooler Master's V Platinum V2 1600 W, which has a friendly MSRP of $299 yet might be difficult to buy at the time of publishing this review.

Overall, considering the performance, the current price of the NZXT C1500 does not seem like a bad deal at all. While there might definitely be cheaper and still good quality power supplies available on the market, the C1500 can still by all means be recommended for your next rig.
