NZXT Panzerbox Review

A Closer Look - Inside

To gain access to the interior of the case, simply unscrew the thumb screws and pull the covers off the case. NZXT has kept the interior in black. This is something they plan to do for all of the cases, no matter what the retail price of the case is. As you can see, there is no hole in the mainboard tray to easily remove backplates of CPU coolers or water blocks. Considering the fact, that this case is so liquid cooling friendly, such a feature would have been more than useful - even with a removable mainboard tray.

NZXT packs four 3.5 inch bays into the case. Two of them are located right behind the 190 mm fan, while the other two are soldered to the bottom of the three 5.25 inch drive bays. These bays remind me of the NZXT Adamas case, which we reviewed quite some time ago.

The power supply bay has a little support piece which reduces the strain of a large unit on the rear of the case. Each of the mainboard expansion slots has thumb screws, so you can quickly exchange parts without the need for tools at a LAN party. The upper area is occupied by the 120 mm exaust fan and the larger 190 mm ceiling unit. This makes a total of three fans, two of which are very large, within the Panzerbox.

The case features a removable mainboard tray. Simply unscrew the five thumb screws and pull the tray out. Such a construction is usually not very rigid, easily bending under pressure, but NZXT has done a great job with their version. I was not able to bend it out of shape, so you should not have to worry, even when packing it full of components.

After pulling out the tray, you are left with the bare structure of the Panzerbox. The joints of the case are soldered, while less important pieces have been secured using rivets. The cabling of the case is of the standard variety and should be compatible to all modern mainboards out there.
