  • Mediocre USB 3.0 write performance
  • Housing sounds hollow

Clocking in at just around 1.25 USD per GB, the Patriot Supersonic RageXT USB 3.0 manages to surprise. Considering the price and its compact size, one may not expect the fast speeds of high-end drives, but the Rage XT USB 3.0 takes the crown in terms of read performance by beating the competition with an average of over 181 MB/s. This is exactly in line with what Patriot advertises, but its write speed of around 42 MB/s falls a bit short of the published 50 MB/s. Still, its somewhat mediocre write performance can easily be forgiven with such a prize. While these attributes are certainly important, Patriot has even ensured that the USB connector is protected by a sliding mechanism. The unit can also be added to a key chain easily because of a hole in the back. All in all, this is a great little stick with quite a lot of "rage" in it.
