These white Patriot Viper RGB DDR4 memory sticks are a great option right now no matter what motherboard you have or what platform or brand you choose, although I suppose the fact they are white might clash with some color schemes, and let's be honest: if you are buying RGB memory, how it all looks really does matter. Fortunately, if you don't like white sticks, there are black ones, but since the white sticks are available with speeds of up to 3200 MHz and the black sticks are available with up to 4000 MHz and then some, perhaps there might be something different with those black sticks, and we have to confine our review to the white sticks we've got in our hands today.
As crazy as it sounds, playing with Patriot's Viper RGB DDR4 memory was almost kind of magical. There are a lot of things that can come into play when it comes time to consider all the RGB products you might have bought, and how they are all going to work together, and which ones you have to set up first and which software can run with others and which ones are going to cause your system to blow up and make your memory not boot any more... with these sticks, all that confusion is pretty much over. It's been a while since we've not had to worry about software completely ruining things, but with these Patriot Viper RGB sticks and their wide compatibility with all these motherboard RGB control schemes, that really isn't something to ever worry about here.
Getting Patriot's software up and running and changing settings was simple and easy, and by far less painful a process than what I've seen out of the majority of other software solutions for RGB memory right now. There's something that must be said about the ease of use that is offered by these sticks and their ability to customize the RGB LEDs on them in five different zones, all with just a few clicks. Some other brands have amazingly functional software as well, but it's a bit more cumbersome, while some sticks don't have software at all...
Being able to use these white Patriot Viper RGB sticks in both AMD and Intel systems without any worries is rather nice too. With Ryzen-based systems not having the best reputation for memory compatibility, it was awesome to be able to toss these sticks in any of my test systems and have them up and running at their rated speeds without any issues at all. Patriot has gone and made the Viper RGB DDR4 memory work just like any other memory should with this wide compatibility with both software and hardware.
