The Patriot Xporter Magnum is a beast. Its huge capacity is accompanied by lightning fast sustained read speeds and a very decent write speed, which makes this drive very appealing to enthusiasts needing a ton of storage in a tiny package. These high transfer speeds make me wonder why Patriot decided to only offer a USB version of the Xporter Magnum. With read speeds topping 35MB/s, the flash memory is being limited by USB 2.0's bandwidth. Why not offer an eSATA version so we can see the true potential of the memory that Patriot chose for the Xporter Magnum? The cap's design has a few nitpicky problems as well; Maybe a sliding USB connector would have been a better choice?
Also, at this price point, one has to wonder whether or not they really need a small flash drive. A higher-capacity external HDD is easily attainable at the Xporter Magnum's price point. Nevertheless, all of this storage and performance wrapped in a metal casing and protected by a lifetime warranty makes for an obvious choice for those demanding the best of the best in a USB flash drive.
