Privilege Settings
The Privilege Settings allow you to set domain security, make new accounts or user groups, set access rights, and manage the shared folders on the NAS. You can also set the quotas of the NAS's shared folders.
Network Services
If you want to enable file service for Microsoft Networking and allow access to the NAS on Windows Networks, you should enable the corresponding option in this group of settings. You can also enable Apple Networking and NFS service.
The NAS includes an FTP service you can enable from here. You can also specify the port number and the maximum number of simultaneously connected users. The options for Telnet/SSH services can be found in this menu too.
The SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) service reports real-time events, errors, and warnings on the NAS to a PC with installed SNMP software.
The UPnP discovery service allows the NAS to be discovered by any operating system that supports UPnP. Also, Bonjour (zero-configuration networking) can broadcast a variety of services to Mac users.
The network recycling bin keeps the deleted files on the NAS. This may be handy in some cases, but you must be careful with this option if you delete large files frequently as you may end up using a significant amount of storage capacity for deleted files. You can avoid such a mishap by carefully specifying the number of days (1-180) the deleted files will be kept in the recycling bin.
Qsync is a cloud-based file synchronization service exclusive to QNAP NAS users. You simply add files to the local Qsync folder to make them available on your NAS and of all of its connected devices.
