Once again, I'd like to reflect on the prelude. There's no such thing as a perfect mouse pad, just like there's no perfect mouse. Everyone is different, and you should choose one that suits your needs the most. Razer has a plethora of pads available, but the Goliathus models are definitely their most well-known mouse pads. They come in two different surface types, of which each is available in four sizes and two print designs.

Surface-wise, the Control edition has a more rough, slightly slower surface with a lot of stopping power. The Speed version, on the other hand, is a tad faster, a lot smoother, and silkier to the touch. While you may have read stuff like which one is better for high sensitivity or low DPI gaming in the past, or anything else of the sort, don't be fooled as there is no such thing as a mouse pad optimized for a certain sensitivity or gaming style. Just use whatever works for you.

As for their underside, the Goliathus mouse pads are just fantastic. They stick to the table very well (again, this may vary between tabletops as the ones I've tried were perfect with these pads). However, if the pad is not fully flat yet, traction may not be as good, so you should definitely wait a few hours (or even days) before judging this facet.

Build quality is great on both Goliathus pads I had the chance to test and review. There are no bumpy spots, uneven or rough areas, or parts of the edge stitching which stick out. As for durability, that's something I cannot test, unfortunately. What I can share are my personal experiences: I've used a Goliathus Control for more than a year back in the days, and I only switched to another mouse pad because I sought to try something different, not because it wore out. This was many years ago, and I don't know if they are still this durable, but let's hope for the best. Razer provides a 1-year of limited warranty for all their mouse pads except the RGB-backlit ones. Third-party resellers may offer longer warranty periods than this.

I am gladly not only simply recommending the Razer Goliathus mouse pads, but making them editor's choices. Objectively speaking, they offer everything a mouse pad has to provide. Great surface and underside, no tracking issues, stitched edges, and no issues with the build quality. Goliathus mouse pads are, however, a tad pricier than the competition. With the $15 small Goliathus pads go for, you can buy a large or even extended mat from the competition—but will the cheaper ones serve you as well as the ones reviewed here? Only you can tell.
