Software

The first page houses the button remapping function, polling rate adjustment (125/250/500/1000 Hz), and basic Windows pointer settings. The second page includes the CPI configuration, in increments of 100 CPI, for five levels, five on-board profiles, and the option to adjust x and y-axis independently. Annoyingly, CPI adjustment is only possible by using the slider, which is terribly inaccurate. Selecting the desired value is basically down to luck, and some values cannot be selected at all (e.g., 1500 CPI). Lastly, the third page has the lighting options. On my system, the software had a RAM footprint of 10 MB on average when brought to the foreground, and a RAM footprint of 4 MB when minimized.

Lighting

The Cobra M711 FPS has three non-independent zones for RGB lighting in total, which are the scroll wheel, logo, and LED strip going around the mouse. Through the software, it is possible to select from among seven available pre-defined lighting effects. These are Breathing (single color), Rainbow (color cycle), Full Lighted (permanent single color), Wave (multi-color wave), Go Without Trace (multi-color bottom-to-top transition), Reactive (lighting upon mouse movement), and Flash (stop-and-go effect). Each effect can be further customized by adjusting colors, transition speed, direction, and brightness level. Of course, it is also possible to disable the lighting altogether.

Color accuracy and vibrancy are excellent throughout. Here's a short demonstration video of the "Rainbow," "Wave," and "Go Without Trace" lighting effects:
