Software
ROCCAT's all-in-one software is called Swarm, and it's one of my favorite software drivers for mice. It's intuitive, easy to use, and only downloads modules for devices that are being used, which means it doesn't take up much disk space. Unfortunately, I can't provide screenshots this time around as the software is getting an entire overhaul by release with a lot of new functions, and some outdated ones are getting removed—I will add pictures once the new version is ready.
Until then, here's what you may expect: The main screen contains most resolution and Windows-related settings. There's a bottom bar, which features the profiles, and you can also access their profile manager and macro manager from here. The Button Assignment page contains all button-mapping options, and there's a lot of them. ROCCAT also features an Easy-Shift[+] option, which adds an extra layer of buttons. The Illumination tab has most of the lighting settings, more on that under the Lighting section. Lastly, the Advanced Settings page lets you fiddle with the polling rate, LED sleep timer, angle snapping (I'd very much advise keeping this turned off), sound feedback, and a feature called zero debounce, which you should turn on as it reduces click latency. If you experience unwanted double clicks, try turning this off, though.
Lighting
ROCCAT introduced their AIMO lighting system last year, which is basically an AI-controlled backlight system. It changes colors and intensity according to how you use the mouse, reacts to clicks, swipes, etc. Needless to say, it looks cool, and you can naturally synchronize AIMO-enabled products if you have more of them. There are also the more regular functions to choose from, such as breathing, solid lighting, and heartbeat effects.
The lighting itself is very bright, so much so that my camera couldn't compensate for it, which just had the colors burn out. The colors are very nice and vivid, and the transitions are silky smooth. You can choose up to five different effects or can turn everything off.
Here's a demonstration video of some of the lighting effects:
