The Rosewill R2-Raid external enclosure is a solid enclosure. Its flexibility to allow the user to use USB or eSATA comes in very handy. The various RAID levels are great for taking advantage of the benefits of RAID, whether that be speed or data integrity. The unit is well-built, and the brushed-aluminum finish matches that of higher-end cases. Installation is easy, and configuring the drives is easy, too.

The two issues I found with the R2-Raid are minor, depending on the user's personal preferences. The front LEDs do not match, with the power LED being blue and the HDD activity LEDs being green. The rear fan is also not quiet, but at least Rosewill has added a switch that allows the user to turn the fan on and off as needed.

Overall I enjoyed working with the R2-Raid. I especially liked the flexibility of connections, as well as the available RAID.
