Installation

Installing the Scythe Fuma is pretty straightforward. First, position the backplate on the motherboard. Then, using the proper stud nuts, secure the backplate to the board. With that done, secure the mounting arms to the stud nuts.

Next, apply some thermal paste to then position the heatsink onto the CPU and secure it to the mounting arms. On LGA115x, do not overtighten the screws. Just screw them down until everything is flush and feels tight.

With that done, install the 120 mm fans and plug them into the CPU fan header. Once done, the Scythe Fuma is ready to go.

The mounting hardware included with the Scythe Fuma is very simple, but there is a minor flaw in its installation since the manual mentions not to overtighten the long screws for the mounting bar even though those screws should bottom out and be properly tightened. Instead, a very vague message is left in the manual. While I did not experience any issues, it's something worth keeping in mind and means Scythe needs to pay more attention to the minor details.

In terms of difficulty, I would rate its installation a 7 on a scale of 1 (hardest) to 10 (easiest). I took off a few points simply due to the fact that a problem potentially exists for Skylake and Kabylake systems, based on the installation manual's warning.
