I absolutely love products like the Sennheiser GSP 301. It's a simple, no-nonsense kind of a headset that tries - and succeeds - to be as good as possible for the sole job it was made for. While I'm sure some potential users will consider its feature list too short for the asking price of $100, that's not a proper way of looking at it. Are you buying a gaming headset to decorate your head with useless RGB LEDs and have a massive remote control dangling from the cable or are you after nice sound quality, a great microphone, and exceptional comfort? The Sennheiser GSP 301 offers exactly what you want if the latter three points are your answer to the question.

That's not to say that it lacks the essentials, such as a volume dial and the ability to mute the microphone. The volume can be adjusted by using the practical knob that's built into the right ear cup, and you silence the microphone by simply pivoting it upward. A combination of soft memory foam ear cushions and a well-padded headband with a carefully adjusted clamping force makes sure that the Sennheiser GSP 301 doesn't cause any discomfort even if taking a break after a couple of hours of gaming isn't something you're fond of doing. It also does a great job of passively blocking out ambient sounds and leaks next to no sound out, regardless of your listening volume.

Its sound signature is well balanced, clean and detailed. Thanks to that, the GSP 301 offers excellent versatility and manages to be equally good for various genres of games and music. The width of the soundstage and richness of the midrange do wonders for in-game spatial positioning, and the warmth of its sound will make you happy in your music-listening sessions.

This is a great gaming headset. Only the most demanding users will ever want the features that it doesn't offer, such as microphone monitoring, different acoustic profiles, and a driver that would let them fiddle with various settings. If you're not one of those, the Sennheiser GSP 301 could be the last gaming headset you're going to buy in the foreseeable future.
