This enclosure is definitely one of the best looking on the market. The combination of aluminum and an iPod white face plate makes it stand out from the crowd. Performance was no let down either managing an average read speed of 34.4 MB/s. This isn't something you see every day, especially when the enclosure is an IDE / USB 2.0 combination. One of the things that surprised me a bit was that this enclosure managed to finish ahead of the competition both when it comes to raw read speed and CPU utilization (lower is better). This is a real testament to the performance of the controller board.
Even installation was really easy. You just pull out the tray to install a hard drive, pop it back in and you are all set. Overall there is very little that I don't like about this enclosure. The only obvious problem with it is that it's fanless. This is in my opinion both a pro and a con at the same time, with the pro being that it's silent and the con being that the hard drive becomes rather hot while using it.
Besides that the only other thing I can put my finger on is the fact that the enclosure doesn't have any silicone feet, this would have helped to reduce the amount of vibration being passed on from the hard drive to the thing that the enclosure stands on.
The price is a bit on the high side, but considering the general price / performance ratio this is definitely a bang-for-the-buck enclosure.
Overall I find it hard not to like this device, it performs good, looks nice, and doesn't cost all that much considering its performance.
