Packaging
The DAS comes in a medium-sized box without any fancy graphics. There is just the brand logo on every sides.
Contents
Internal protection is good.
A smaller box contains all the accessories, which consist of the paperwork, power adapter, a Thunderbolt 3 cable, bolts for mounting the drives to the trays, and two screwdrivers, a smaller and larger one. Stickers for marking the drives have also been included, along with a reset pin required to set the desired RAID level.
This is the unit's power adapter. It is made by Powertron, has model number PA1045-120T2B333, and can deliver up to 40 W.
The drive bays don't feature any locks, which is a con in business environments. The power button resides on the left, and right above it are the power and HDD LEDs.
The top handle can come in handy if you want to move the DAS. However, it prevents you from placing anything on top of the device.
Aside from a pair of Thunderbolt ports, there is only a DP port, power input socket, and Kensington lock. In the bottom-right corner, you will find the RAID selection screw and, on its left side, the reset switch, which you have to press for several seconds every time you set a new RAID level (you have to wait until the HDD LEDs at the face of the DAS turn green).
The trays are made out of plastic and lack locks and sound dampening.
You can mount SSDs instead of HDDs for much faster transfer speeds.
The top handle is the notable visual difference to the competition. The main shell of the chassis is made out of metal, while the front and rear are made out of plastic.
