Value and Conclusion

  • The Tesoro Gram Spectrum RGB keyboard is currently retailing for $140 from retailers, including Amazon.com.
  • A great low-profile option for gamers
  • Comfortable to use
  • Very bright LEDs
  • FN keys work incredibly well
  • Can be used without a driver
  • Very sturdy due to iron plate
  • Sleeved, detachable cable
  • Software UI is hard to read and could be improved
  • Agile switches occasionally feel a little muddy
  • Language barriers remain on the software driver
The Tesoro Gram Spectrum RGB Keyboard has a lot of plus points with its clean, simple design of the box to show that Tesoro has stopped going for the "gamer" look to carry on and appeal to a far larger market. A nice, simple-looking keyboard without an over-the-top design greeted me, and I was surprised at how thin but sturdy it felt. The low-profile keycaps are a nice touch too, as were the doubleshot legends on them, which means longer durability.

Performance-wise, whilst gaming, the Tesoro Gram Spectrum RGB is acceptable; the Agile Blue switches were generally smooth, and when combined with the low-profile design of the keycaps, also feel less clunky, giving those who want the low-profile experience an option. I did feel like the switches were a little bit muddy, though. The feedback wasn't always as pronounced as I would have expected, and I occasionally really struggled to get used to it, particularly whilst typing.

The software really needs some work on the user experience side - it needs to be more intuitive and less crowded; it also needs to be easier to read and has to be checked for incorrect English. It also does not scale very well with high resolution monitors that are getting more and more prevalent now. Having said so, the features that were offered worked well even though most were accessible through the keyboard's FN keys.

With a price tag of $140, I feel this keyboard does decently but there remain minor issues preventing this from being a great keyboard. Granted, most competing keyboards with similar features cost more, but Tesoro does not have the brand awareness to get away with this. People are more likely to spend the extra $10-20 on a keyboard with more consistent switches, a better software driver, and a bigger brand name behind it. But none of the mainstream leaders offer stock keycaps as good as these, and to me, that is a big selling point, especially in the long run, which many reviews do not get to cover. As such, I still recommend it to those looking for something different - the low profile feature alone merits it.
