A Closer Look

The Thermaltake BlacX HDD Docking Station consists of a black ABS plastic base that a user can insert a spare SATA hard drive into. The top has a flap where a 3.5" drive slides into place and a smaller opening where the 2.5" drive goes. There is also a small round oval that lights up to show power and HDD activity. Along the front edge is a small button that, when pressed, pushes the drive upward to assist with removal.

Here the flap has been pushed down to reveal the internal connections for the hard drive. Both SATA 1 and 2 drives of both 3.5" and 2.5" size can be used, as they all utilize the same standard data and power connections.

The rear of the unit is pretty basic, too. There is a USB connection and a power jack, as well as a power button to turn the unit on and off. Underneath there are four rubber pads that keep the unit from sliding around on your desk.
