Packaging and Accessories

At this point I knew Truthear has adopted a successful female artwork design for its product boxes, going so far as to name its mascot and drawing the ire of many who liked the ZERO but not the product box itself. With the new ZERO:RED, Truthear has not changed this strategy albeit has customized the artwork to be in red to better match the product name. I am also hopeful that the increased clothing will result in fewer unnecessary distractions from the actual product itself. The packaging itself uses an external sleeve which has the logos of the two participating brands as well as the product name on the front, along with a brief blurb about the IEMs. On the back we see a factory frequency response curve published with product specifications and contact information for Truthear. The side now has a new brand slogan which, hilariously, I know ChatGPT is responsible for—it's a long story!

Slide out the inner cardboard box to see a simpler design in black with the product name placed front and center. Lift up the lid to see the same female artwork adorning a sleeve that has paperwork inside in the form of a warranty card, an owner's manual going over the use of these IEMs, and a weird note/bookmark that simply says "Install Guide" but doesn't really have one on it. Truthear also provides four replacement nozzle filters this time round, which is nice to see. The IEMs are placed inside a stacked foam layer with cutouts to snugly fit the individual shells while also having room to help extract them out, with the other accessories found in the compartment to the bottom.

The carry/storage case that comes with the Truthear x Crinacle ZERO:RED is the exact same one that ships with the original ZERO as well as the HEXA. It is made of faux leather—likely polyurethane—and uses a pouch-style design that can be somewhat cumbersome to place things into and take them out owing to the smaller opening relative to the outer dimensions. On the other hand, it does fold into a smaller wallet-style case that is easier to carry with you. The black exterior is stitched well and has two buttons to help secure it when closed, and we see it contains the IEM cable inside to begin with. Underneath the case is a thick cardboard sheet that has the various ear tips placed individually and makes it easy for users to spot and remove the ones they want to use.

Truthear provides here two types on silicone ear tips in sizes S/M/L each, and these differ primarily in the opening of the inner bore that can affect the presentation and soundstage slightly. I also noticed the wider bore tips were rounder and slightly more malleable owing to the thinner flange, your mileage may vary as to which type gives you a better fit/seal even outside of the different sizes. In addition, we also get a single set of medium-density foam ear tips in size M.
