Value and Conclusion

  • The Verbatim Store'n'Go Clip-it 4 GB sells for just under 6 € at various online shops. The 2 GB version is just a few cents cheaper, as it simply comes down to material cost these days.
  • Affordable enough to be used as a "one way" product
  • Cool and unique use
  • May give you that edge you need at your next job interview / application
  • Loads of colors to choose from
  • Possibility to brand it if you are willing to buy at least 100 pieces
  • 2 or 4 GB should be plenty for storing and passing on data in most scenarios
  • 2 years warranty
  • 2 GB version somewhat dead in the water - virtually same price as 4 GB one
  • 4 GB not available in all the colors
  • Still more expensive than a 8 cm CD for example - which Verbatim sells too
  • Plastic clip not as good as metal
The Verbatim Store'n'Go Clip-it series shows that Verbatim is trying to appeal to the consumer by offering USB flash drives with specific uses instead of just churning out one boring stick after another. This is certainly a good way to get noticed in the extremely crowded flash storage market. The Clip-it is intended to be used just like a paper clip, which usually means passing on the device to some one else in the process.
Luckily, Verbatim has kept the price down to a minimum, so it will not really hurt your wallet, while gaining some "brownie points" with your boss, future employer or professor. The fact that Verbatim offers a labeling service if you order 100 pieces or more, also makes the Clip-it an interesting choice for bigger companies, which want a unique way to pass on presentations or product information to a (potential) customer. Despite not being a fast flash drive, the Verbatim Store'n'Go Clip-it series is actually a very useful tool in today's digital age and can be recommended, especially since it is carries virtually no price premium over traditional flash drives.
