This is the second gaming chair from Vertagear in our review portfolio. Its automobile seat bucket design, completely carbon black color scheme, and exceptionally thick stitching will definitely be the first things you will notice once the chair is out of the box. Once more, the design of this chair is similar to those of other gaming chairs. It seems that this dominant trend is here to stay. However, the completely black color scheme suits both gaming and office environments well.
The sitting and backrest areas have the dimensions typical for such gaming chairs. However, the sitting base is situated too low; at least in our opinion. Both are made out of high density polyurethane foam (cold foam) and are, hence, both soft. They are covered in water-resistant and stainless PVC leather.
Vertagear's SL5000 gaming chair has a net weight of 24.7 kg (54 lb) and can hold a user of up to 150 kg (330 lb), which is respectable. The S-line series is recommended for users who want to work on obtaining a healthy body posture. Individuals who use chairs for several hours a day tend to end up with shortened muscles in their hip area, and while some would argue that such statements are purely speculative and not based in fact, what one cannot argue against is that a wrong body posture over the long term is going to lead to back problems.
The SL5000 is equipped with ergonomic amenities that exist in other mainstream gaming chairs, and at $349.99, this gaming chair puts itself halfway between the mid- and high-range in terms of price. One feature that impressed us positively is Vertagear's patented "slide-in" backrest design that makes this chair's assembly a piece of cake! This product is only covered by a two-year warranty, though, which is the minimum within the EU. Whether one wants to spend $600 or more in order to get a longer warranty is up to one's wallet. We really expect a gaming chair that costs more than $300 to be supported by at least a three or, ideally, five-year warranty, however.
