Viako Mini Letter ML-55 E-350 Wifi Review

Value and Conclusion

  • You can get the Viako ML-55 in three kits: the "power kit", consisting of case and power adapters for around 80-90 US Dollars, the "E-350 Wifi" as seen in this review for around 280 US Dollars including the mainboard and wireless card or even go for a full blown system if you wish. This system is not available with the ML-55 but the larger ML-80.
  • Extremely well built little ITX chassis
  • Simple - means maximum compatibility
  • The most compact ITX chassis reviewed to date
  • Available in black, red or silver
  • Internal fan surprisingly quiet
  • Easy assembly
  • 120 W power architecture
  • High quality, custom built converter board
  • The "power kit" is quite affordable for such a chassis
  • Barebone kit includes Wifi
  • No front connectivity
  • Limited availability outside of Asia
  • Silver screws on fan
  • Big silver power button on the black and red case - not the best design choice
  • Best to go for the "power kit" and install the motherboard of your choice, as the Gaida may not be the most interesting Fusion based board out there
Well, even though this review is of the "Viako ML-55 E-350 Wifi", I want to make sure that the main aspect here is focused on. This is by all means the Viako ML-55 chassis. While I admire the fact that the company is offering the unit as a barebone along with wireless LAN, their choice of Fusion mainboards may not be looked upon favorably by some. That said, the Gaida board works, but is cerainly no speed daemon and any shortcomings of the board are by no means the fault of Viako. It is great to see a company emerging from Asia with a full set of very capable ITX enclosures which are affordable, look good, allow for simple installation, while offering a range of products to suite everyone's needs. We better keep an eye out on this one, I got a good feeling what Viako is concerned and I hope to see more of them in the future - but just the cases, the boards - not so much. The score and award focuses on the chassis not the board, as that may change over time, while the case will remain the same, especially since the ML-55 is available by itself, giving you complete choice.
