A Closer Look
Vizo has constructed the unit out of a single piece of aluminum. This makes it incredibly sturdy. There should be no 15.4" inch notebook out there too heavy for the miniNinja II. The two fans have been placed behind a metal mesh air vent. Turning the unit over, reveals the two cooling units and how they are secured. You may move them around along the rails if you wish, but they are placed quite nicely right out of the box.
On top you will find two logos. The first reads "miniNinja". Note the missing "II". Vizo has simply taken the design and layout of the original and added a USB 2.0 hub to it. It would have been good to see the actual roman number printed on the upside as well. In the corner is a small Vizo logo.
The miniNinja II is held in place by four rubber feet. These are simply glued to the unit, so it is possible to loose them or for them to fall off on their own. This should not be the case if you are keeping the unit on your table all the time, but may happen if you travel around with the notebook cooler. The metal mesh is held in place with some tape. Screws may have been a nicer option, but the tape holds really well and does not disturb the overall look of the unit's upside.
The big difference to the original miniNinja can be found on the right side of the unit. Three USB 2.0 ports have been added, so that you will end up with two additional ports at your disposal, when using the unit. Considering the limited number available on a notebook, certainly a noteworthy feature.
