The XGIMI Horizon Pro sits squarely in the budget price segment when it comes to 4K projectors. That is by no means a bad thing as it manages to offer a lot for the money. While not a trivial amount of money spent, higher-end units or UST 4K projectors can break that 5-digit pricing barrier, which puts it into perspective. So for those wanting a 4K projector, simply the price should make the XGIMI Horizon Pro appear on your short list of devices to consider.

That said, there are naturally some drawbacks. At 2200 ANSI lumens, it is also right in the ballpark with other units of the segment, but that does not compare to what you get for brightly lit rooms with a similarly priced TV. This should be mentioned even if an issue with DLP-based projectors in general. Those who want a much higher probability of a great viewing experience in their sunlit living room need to consider laser projection, which also ups the price considerably.

The other issue isn't hardware-related, but warrants mentioning: There is no official support for Netflix. That is pretty common with Android-based projectors, but some manage to offer it. Luckily, you can simply plug in a Google TV or FireTV stick to solve that issue as well. Lastly, there is the issue of motion compensation. MEMC can net a visible benefit if done right, but the proprietary implementation in the Horizon Pro needs a bit of work to really be useful and without artifacts.

On the positive side, there is plenty to report: Its compact size makes it quite the stylish and subtle addition to your living room, while Android TV 10 is both functional and ad-free. The X-VUE 2.0 image engine does a good job at providing good colors, and both HDR and 10-bit color result in a vivid picture in the right settings. While 300" is only really achievable in the most ideal of surroundings, 100–150" is absolutely doable, which should be plenty for most.

The XGIMI Horizon Pro ends up being a cohesive 4K projector, giving you a viable alternative to a large 4K TV at a similar price point. While there may be slightly more affordable, slightly brighter entry-level 4K DLP units out there, those lack the size, smartness, automation in picture setup or longevity the Horizon Pro offers. All those elements make the XGIMI Horizon Pro the better, more balanced choice.
