Shape
Describing the shape of the M42 is complicated by the fact that there are two differently curved back covers to choose from. At the same time, these back covers don't affect the height of the hump, but rather how steeply it slopes down towards the back. The default high-profile back cover creates a butt that fills the hand more and feels similar to the Zowie S2 butt, for instance. The low-profile back cover, on the other hand, has a much sharper fall-off and provides less palm support. The different back covers make for an interesting dynamic with the front, and the front slopes down rather aggressively before it "bottoms out" towards the tip, forming a shape similar to this: ___/. As a result, one's finger tips sit lower than they normally would, and depending on which back cover is installed, the fingers are more or less arced (provided claw grip is used). I was quite surprised by how different the mouse felt in hand with each back cover.
Other than that, the M42 has a typical ambidextrous shape. The back is wider than the front, and the middle is curved inwards horizontally but straight vertically. The main buttons feature subtle comfort grooves. Much like on the M4, the honeycomb pattern covers the sides as well, and much like on the M4, I'm not bothered by it since they're a good size. Please note that all pictures seen on this page have been taken with the default high-profile back cover installed.
As for grip styles, I'd say the M42 generally suits all three main grip styles (palm, claw, and finger tip grip), more or less dependent on which back cover is installed. It's a medium to small-sized mouse with a moderately pronounced hump, which should make it generally suit most hand sizes. For reference, my hands are 19 cm long and 10 cm wide, and I found the M42 very comfortable in claw grip.
Dimensions
This table includes the dimensions of the Xtrfy M42 and several other ambidextrous mice. "Front height" denotes the distance between the base and main buttons. Measurements with two decimals have been taken with a caliper, while those with one decimal have been taken with a ruler. For a full list of all measurements taken, please refer to
this sheet compiled by an esteemed community member.

Below are some comparison shots with each of the measured mice. I refrained from including additional shots featuring the alternative back cover as its curvature is entirely identical to the default one when looked at from these angles.
