Alphacool Eisblock XPX CPU Water Block Review

Introduction

Alphacool Logo

When it comes to companies making a living in the PC watercooling sector, especially with custom loops, a CPU water block is definitely the one thing to get right. It ends up being an ambassador for the entire product portfolio, offering a long lifespan with high CPU socket compatibility and the opportunity to customize and offer variants for everyone. Alphacool knew this all too well with their previous-generation CPU blocks being.. less than impressive, which is putting it mildly. When they began their massive overhaul of products, including renaming to have everything start with Eis (ice), they knew they had to get the then-new CPU block right. It was then that the Eisblock XPX came out, and we take a closer look at one of the newer variants today on TechPowerUp. Thanks again to Alphacool for sending us a review sample (or two).

With my original review elsewhere in late 2016, the Eisblock XPX is not a new block by itself. At the time, it was only available in a metal frame/plastic top version, and Alphacool has since come out with satin nylon and polished nylon top options and various accessories to further deck out the block. This review was originally slated to be done a long time ago, but Alphacool had a batch of poorly nickel-plated cold plates, including my own original review sample. It took a long time, and to their credit, Alphacool went after this the proper way by working out the issues and solving them to where a random sample selected by a retailer is what I decided to go with here. It was fine, as it should have been, and here we are finally. As always, the review begins with a look at the specifications below.
