CoolIT Systems Debuts WS 240 Custom Liquid Cooling for Nehalem Platform

CoolIT Systems, the global leader in innovative liquid cooling solutions for high performance computers, announces the WS 240 custom liquid cooling for Nehalem-based processors. Using similar technology to the highly decorated Domino ALC, the WS 240 utilizes a 240mm radiator and two water blocks to provide aggressive liquid cooling performance for both CPUs. This ensures maximum performance gains, reduced system noise, improved reliability, and enhanced longevity of all system components. Users have the option to switch between three operation modes with the simple push of a button satisfying the need for quiet or the desire for over clocking performance.

The WS 240 is factory sealed ready to be quickly and easily installed into most E-ATX supporting chassis. Mounting hardware for the Intel 775/1366/1156 socket is included along with a specially engineered retention mechanism which ensures an optimum interface with the CPU and limits the weight on the motherboard to well below the maximum specified by CPU manufacturers.
"Nehalem is all about power efficiency, and a big element of that is heat dissipation" remarks Geoff Lyon, CEO of CoolIT Systems. "One of the premier advantages of Nehalem is Turbo Boost Technology that takes advantage of the processor's power based on thermal headroom. With our cooler, the margin is maximized so the clocks are as fast as possible."
PC enthusiasts and system builders can contact CoolIT's customization services department to custom build the cooler to meet the exact specifications of their system for around $270. For more information, visit the product page.

Kind of pricey. I'm looking forward to an improved Domino ALC type.

Yeah....I'd sooner go spend my money on some hookers and beer than buy this stupidly overpriced pile of crap. :shadedshu

You could easily put together a much better loop than this for the same price.

Too much to ask for an AMD version with one proc cooler?

Note that this is for ease of installation.... users that just want something that will basically perform as good as a custom loop without all the hassle. People need to stop bad mouthing Coolit, they make good stuff.

CoolIt makes good products, but when is someone going to come out with a "duel rad" kit for a single processor? At first glance that's what I thought it was :)...but now I see it's for two cpu's :( and for $270 I could build a sweet single block loop myself.

No they don't. It's mid range cooling products at high range prices. That's the definition of crap products.

This won't basically come anywhere near the performance of a custom loop at the same price point.

You pay a premium for their name. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ease of installation because this product is for enterprise-level cooling. Yes you are right that you can get more perf for a lower price, but it comes at the cost of being a hassle. Time = money and something like setting up a custom loop is a PIA afaik.

Even still, there are cheaper all-in-one solutions that don't carry the same premium. And furthermore, time may = money, but a kit that isn't preassembled doesn't add enough time to make up for the price premium, especially when you factor in performance as well. The only thing a non assembled kit adds in time is running a couple of tubes, and filling the loop. The only adds minutes.
