Arctic Cooling has HD 5970 cooler ready, working on Fermi

Arctic Cooling has a long history of making excellent aftermarket coolers for AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards. Their latest innovation is the triple slot Accelero Xtreme 5970 which supports AMD's dual-GPU HD 5970 cards. Sapphire has chosen to use this very cooling solution for their HD 5970 OC 4 GB flagship, of course the cooler will be available in retail as well.

What we also hear is that Arctic Cooling is almost finished with their product design for a GeForce GTX 480 (Fermi) cooler that is quieter and cools better than the NVIDIA reference design heatsink. Based on NVIDIA's expected launch schedule (end of March), the Accelero Xtreme for GTX 480 might be available in volume around the same time you will see NVIDIA's new card come to store shelves near you.

The base work is done, they just need to move the base of the cooler more to right. As Fermi has no NVIO chip the core is more to the left that it is on GT200.

It'll be great and much simpler for Arctic Cooling with fewer and simpler heatsinks needed for rest of the card.

I have a feeling that Accelero Xtreme GTX 480 will fit HD5870 too. edit: forgot about the high DVI slots.

The Extreme series really are some of the best aftermarket GPU coolers...period. I couldn't believe the difference one made on my old 2900XT

Made me think of the 2900XT AC cooler they did. Although the reg heatsink looks better but i bet one of those TT heatsinks on it and some 120mm fans would make it kick even more ass.

It's nice to see stuff for ATI first and then Nv. Hasn't happened for a while. I suppose the Mfg have no choice though, have to make products to keep making money and ATI is the only game in town for a couple more weeks.

Wow, that is just one beast of a cooler. I bet it keeps it nice and cool. Wonder what it sounds like though, looks pretty powerful.

Its by Arctic cooling, they're obsessed with how loud things are.

All they're coolers are designed to perform better then stock in all ways, including sound levels.

Seems they have Accelero Xtreme 5870 ready too:

Wonder if they'll make Fermi version with different VRM sink set and leave the DVI slot hole be. I'd do that to save some money :)
