Rambus Sues IBM Despite USPTO Intervention

Patent troll Rambus is at it again, this time suing IBM to reverse ruling on a memory system patent dispute after the US Patent and Trademark Office intervened in an earlier case ruling that IBM's patent 2002 memory controller-related patent applications weren't infringing on its IP. Rambus maintains that US Patent Office's ruling that gave a clean chit to IBM was in error.

In a lawsuit filed Monday in the federal court in San Jose, California, Rambus said the US Patent and Trademark Office erred through a series of decisions in finding that a patent application assigned to IBM did not interfere with its own patent obtained at the end of 2002. "The board committed errors of fact and law in its orders, decisions, and judgment," Rambus said in its complaint.

I believe they're suing techpowerup next for using the brand name "Rambus" without adding (c) (R) (TM) and (a-holes).

RAMBUS must employ all of one guy and an army of lawyers. Tell you what though, that one guy must be rolling in the money.

I don't know if I should say this here, because it may look like an admission to Rambus , but when I was at the uni we had to create a memory controler for an SDRAM module as part of an exercise...

So, I'm next? Oh... my... God, I'm shitting my pants! Anyone here's a lawyer?

I could describe Rambus as nothing but a bunch of parasites, but that would be insulting to all the leeches, ticks, tapeworms, etc. in the world....

I wish some judge would just finally rule all of Rambus' patents void due to their shitty patent ambush tatics.

If you hold patents for something, speak up right when they are being used by someone else, don't wait until the entire industry has adpoted the technology as a standard before speaking up.

Yeah, there should be a statute of limitations on how long you can wait to file.

United States Patent 7,782,082
Oh , et al. August 24, 2010

Method of making money: the Rambus way

Abstract

A system and method for suing everyone, his mother and his dog is described. The method may involve, but does not require, the creation and/or adquisition of a patent with no intention of mass producing any derived product or technology; making a hole in the ground and hiding unnoticed until such patent is used in at least 5 notorious ($$) companies and has gained good relevance to the industry and afterwards suing as many of those companies as your budget permits. The practice of hiring more lawyers than actual employees, such as engineers or physicians (...) is also contemplated by this patent and is subject of relevance. Also includes the phrase "Have a nice day", which cannot be used without the permission of the patent holder. Infractors of this patent will be prosecuted.

Inventors: Oh; Kyung Suk (Campbell, CA), Shaeffer; Ian P. (San Jose, CA)
Assignee: Rambus Inc. (Los Altos, CA)
Appl. No.: 12/507,794
Filed: July 22, 2009
Sorry guys. If anyone was thinking about adquiring some patents and suing some companies... no luck. Rambus already owns the patent to such practice and you will be sued faster than Kenny dies. If you still want to make some easy money, I suggest the use of the open source method of:

Phase 1: Collect Underpants
Phase 2: ?
Phase 3: Profit

Have a nice day!!

...

Damn!! :banghead:
