Raptor Gaming Intros P9 Extra-Wide Mouse Pad

German gaming peripherals manufacturer and gamer community Raptor Gaming unveiled its new P9 professional-grade, extra-wide mouse pad. With an area of 390 x 290 mm and an irregular shape, the P9 is 3 mm thick, and uses a fine textured-surface with silver-metallic plastic coating, for control-intensive mouse movements. The bottom side is coated with natural rubber to add grip to the surface below. Slated for shipping in July, the Raptor Gaming P9 is priced at €29.90.

As one of the extremely limited number of trackball users, I fail to see how this is better than a standard mousepad. Could any of you Mousers help me out here? Is there anything in this product that makes it stand out?

Not at first sight, but you really have to try them first.

If you have 5 bottles of beer around your desk it comes in handy to have some space on the mouse pad for the bottle with beer. Easy to identify which is full while intense FPS action is happening!

Ocassinally you really need to do some crazy shit with your mouse in shooter games then it comes in handy to have space around your mouse.

I'd buy something like this if I had enough space on my desk. Unfortunately, I don't have that luxury. :(

It's a wider mouse pads, whats hard to figure out on the benefits? There's been a few occasions when flying in Bad Company 2 where I have been frantically trying to turn my chopper and ran my mouse right off the pad.

The thing that gets in the way all the time is actually my keyboard and it doesn't even have a numpad. A wider pad doesn't help in situations like that.

The epitome of why I hate flying in that game...heh

Well, cept console version. Lot easier then. Just never any Hardcore servers on when I want to play.

As for these designer pads...best one I've ever owned was a cheap blue cloth pad from CompUSA or ComputerCity...one of those places. Tracked better than anything else I've used. Very smooth. But finally had to retire it as it was just a sweat absorbing factory. Half the pad turned a nasty brown color and the rubber underside on that half was flattened/disintegrating. But it took it at least 10yrs to finally do that. Don't see them around anymore now.

I can see this having a market if people like very low dpi on their mouse.
