Battlefield 3 To Duke It Out With Modern Warfare 3 For Supremacy
BF3 and MW3 are both being released at nearly the same time, just a couple of weeks apart. Since they both target the same high-end gaming audience, there's going to be some very stiff competition indeed between the two games. What's interesting is the chest-beating that Patrick Liu, producer of developer DICE, is doing. He believes that BF3 will take on and make a severe dent in market share for MW3, although he admits that Activision will be hard to push aside:"From what I've seen of Modern Warfare 3 it looks great, as usual. I think we're going to put a huge dent, so to speak, in [Activision's] market, but they're a behemoth. It's not easy to move them... although I believe that we have already done that, with Battlefield 3's campaign so far. But at the same time, from a developer standpoint, we really focus on creating our own game and making the best that we can. We set the bar quite high for ourselves, and that's usually the biggest challenge for us." From the looks of it though, it looks like he wanted to set it even higher, but it would have taken too much time:"I know that the game is never actually done - we can always improve the game. We have lots of ideas on how to improve this, so if we could we would push Battlefield 3 back a year or two maybe. But that wouldn't make any sense. So the biggest challenge is really our own requirements for ourselves." Who wins the battle of the ratings remains to be seen.

What it comes down to to me is BF3 feels more like war. Being behind a tank when it blows up, having the explosion kill your hearing and the smoke cloud your vision, hearing other people yelling and guns firing as you run for cover. Also the fact that rotating spawn points aren't war. Wars are fought on fronts, it's why Conquest is great. (I agree on other games being more realistic, but just saying BF strikes that great compromise between realism and fake)
Typical COD kid, "stfu nub, you f*cking suck. I f*cked your mom last night. I went 44-1 and you went 17-15. stfu fag."
Only in COD do people get these obscene kill streaks. And it's not because they're l33t, it's because they camped in a corner and used air strike, harrier, and chopper gunner. Their kill streaks made them go 44-1, not them.
COD is all about who has the biggest epeen killstreak. It's why demographically 13+ yrs old play COD whereas more mature and skillful players play games like CS 1.6, CSS, and BF games.
Kids don't know to function like a team, they don't have the brain power required to use team work. But this doesn't bother them, they all like being l33t lone wolves. They enjoy mindless shooting and something that is fun and easy to pick up. Activision knows this so they constantly keep dumbing down the COD games with each release.
Don't get me wrong, the COD games do a great job in playing with your emotions in the campaign. IW/Treyarch are great story tellers, but that's it.
Activision doesn't believe and have failth within their own product. They don't believe that their product has enough replay value, this is why they have to rush a new game every year. And it's true, their games don't have much replay value. Because those 13 yrs with each year get older and wiser and learn that they've been wasting their time.
Good old Activision knows this so they release a new title every year to snag the next 13 yr waiting in line.
And I want to close off by saying COD is the only game, in any genre of gaming, where peeps address new games "oh it's not cod" "oh doesn't have this/that like cod" "oh no killstreaks like cod" blah blah blah
So great games that get release that actually try to involve some sort of skill gets completely kicked off the spotlight because it's too hard, too many things to remember, has recoil, can't instant kill from across the map with any gun...etc If it's remotely hard then it's not cod and peeps should not buy it.
So developers are scared to try anything new and original and follow in the foot steps of the 800lb guerilla in the gaming market; COD.
If you haven't guessed by now, I pick BF3 over COD. Okay i'm done ranting.
its retarded to say that just because someone is better at repeatedly fragging you that they dont have skill. apparently they are killing you. sounds like you need to practice more
I firmly believe CoD4 was and is the greatest in the Call of Duty series.
BF and CoD really do cater to distinctly different crowds, though. There will be some who play both or even switch preferences of course, but this could end up being largely a "party line vote".
If you don't like the comments ingame don't read the chat just play the game. If you hate the game don't play it at all. If somebody prefers COD he plays COD its completely different game from BF. I don't see why would playing a game make me unskillful and childish just because its called COD.
On what planet? haha
MW3 is no where near "high-end". It's a console port.... DX9 .. outdated.
BF3 is a PC game, DX10/11, made for 2011 PC hardware and technology. That's "high-end".
Other than that little "error" in wording in the article. Good reading. ;)
O the link www.vgchartz.com/preorders.php?date=40825 keep in mind that of that there is close to 200000 copies just going dvd rental company's that pays $0.99 royalty fee per digital copy they claim they have rented not the actual copies burned to disc and rented for $0.99 to console gamers.
PC games = full price only no discounts anywhere, the rest of the console number is on a similar discounted formula and only a few small numbers ends up as full retail priced sales.
:nutkick:
They should make the console gamers pay full retail price for each rental as they theoretically bought the game, played it's 8 hours and completed it then sold it back to the game rental company and only loose the rental fee from the price ????
PC gamers buys a game play the 8 hours and complete it then tries to sell it and gets peanuts for it and the developers still want to take royalty / commission on that peanuts and put the pc gamers in jail for not paying them 2nd hand product fees.
Somehow the rental company's is screwing the daylights out of developers and they are to ADHD kids running gaming company's stupid to realize this.
Either both rental and pc gamers get same treatment or everybody pays full price for each new users / new rental user. :nutkick:
There is no MW3 pc volumes listed = strange.
"we really focus on creating our own game and making the best that we can......"
They focus and really make a game, not trying to bank on everybody
