MechWarrior Online Early Access Program Detailed

MechWarrior Online is beginning its closed beta this week, and developer Piranha Games and Infinite Game Publishing have announced a "founder's program" to give eager players early access to the game. The founder's program is being called "Operation Inception," and it will go on sale June 19. Players can buy one of two tiers of early access, which will grant separate rewards. The $30 Veteran Founder's Package gives you $40 of in-game currency, a one-month premium membership for bonus XP and C-Bills, a Founder's Tag to set you apart, and early access to the game and Founder's assets on July 17. If you want to shell out more for the $60 Elite Founder's Package, you'll get a special "Founder's BattleMech" which boosts earned C-Bills for life, $80 of in-game currency, a two-month premium membership, and the founder's tag and early access.

The prices are about on-par for a retail game. However, for those who don't mind waiting, the game will be free-to-play when it fully launches. A release date is unannounced so far, but it probably won't be too far behind the early access July 17 date. You can still register for beta access and reserve your pilot name at the official site.

whats odd is at the time I played Combat Arms, Operation 7, Crossfire It wasnt that way, i seen people dominate with the standard issue weapons without any enhancements

Is this going to be like World of Tanks? Standard (free) and premium (paid) account, premium tanks, premium shells etc.? It is very popular in Europe and Russia, and from some reason not in America... Most important thing is that premium account doesn't give you any advantages in game (except gold shells witch is rarely used in standard game, only in clan wars), but it gives you 50% more creds and xp so you can progress faster.

Ill be sitting with my grand kids one day and telling them "When I was a kid we would buy a game and the WHOLE GAME was one price. Yeah thats right kids. We paid a one time fee and got EVERYTHING for the game in one shot. Oh and the PC games were the best. They would not only allow us to buy the game for a one time fee but they would release content for free AND GIVE US THE SDK TO MAKE OUR OWN CONTENT! Ahhhh yes those were the days."

I'd rather see MechWarrior 2 Pentium Edition and MechWarrior 3 being ported for Vista/Win7/Win8...

Though i have to admit that pictures look nice. I hope gameplay will be good as well. If it will be like from the above games it'll be interesting...

this was pretty much a year or 2 after they came out. they have it but its really not needed to have fun. Even Project Torque/Level-R/Heat Online uses the Pay to play model(Faster Cars/enhancements)

I do hope I get in. Not sure if my luck is that good though. If nothing else, my laptop would be a decent showing of what most people running integrated graphics will have for slightly older systems. lol.

Don't forget to add to the story that everything was also UNLOCKED from the very n00b beginning!

the Devs are swearing that you can't buy anything in game that you can't earn in game. The mechs you get with the premium accounts are basically just painted different with a few cosmetic changes from what I've read so far.

Oh, and they earn c-bills(ingame currency) faster

The videos I've watched make it feel just like the old Mech2 days. The only gripe I have, and hopefully it will be changed by release date, was that the environment wasn't destructible. There were quite a few mechs mixing it up in a stand of trees, stomping every where and shooting like mad, and the trees just kept standing like it was nothing but a spring breeze.

Here's the video I watched, there are a few more if you follow it to YouTube.

They both use the Crytech engine, but Mech Online uses the Crytech3.
