Logitech's New Mice and Touchpad for Windows 8 Put You in Control

Today Logitech announced a new lineup of products designed for easy and intuitive navigation of Windows 8. Available later this month, the Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650, Logitech Touch Mouse T620 and Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 are each specifically designed to work with the Windows 8 touch interface.

"This new family of products takes the traditional mouse functionality you're used to and optimizes it for the navigation experience offered by Windows 8," said Mike Culver, vice president of brand development for consumer computing platforms at Logitech. "Our new mice and touchpad replicate the touch-screen experience that you've grown accustomed to on smartphones and tablets. With Windows 8 now offering up a similar touch experience, our products give you quick, easy and dynamic access to the core elements of the new interface."

Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650

The Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650 features a large, ultra-smooth glass touch-surface that supports Windows 8 gestures, and speeds up navigation among windows while giving your fingers more room to roam.

You can perform the basic point, click and scroll functions anywhere your fingers rest on the touch surface, while also taking advantage of Windows 8 gestures, such as edge gestures for app switching, app bar and charms bar activation, pinch-to-zoom and three-finger swipe to take you back to the Start Screen.

The touchpad consists of one large touch-area with a glass surface that provides smooth gliding for greater gesture and cursor control. You can left- or right-click anywhere on the surface of the touchpad, and it includes an embedded sensor to ensure precise tracking so navigation is fast and fluid.

Logitech Touch Mouse T620

For those looking for a mouse with an ultra-sleek design, the Logitech Touch Mouse T620 provides a full touch-surface for fluid navigation. Similar to the touchpad, you have the freedom to gesture wherever your fingers rest on the mouse - even on the edges - so everything you do feels natural and intuitive, including horizontal and vertical scrolling, and app switching.

This smooth wireless mouse has high style, designed-for-comfort curves that keep your hand happy for hours, and a laser-grade optical sensor that ensures precision tracking on most surfaces.

Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400

The Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 goes beyond traditional mouse functionality by letting you quickly and easily access popular elements of the operating system. It features a glass touch-surface that is designed for smooth horizontal and vertical scrolling with your fingers, and you can click anywhere on the front of the touch zone to go directly to the Windows 8 Start Screen to access your favorite apps.

With a rubber grip wrapping the comfortable shape - and by coupling the standard functionality found in a more traditional mouse with smooth horizontal and vertical scrolling - you'll be happy exploring your PC or tablet for hours on end.

Battery Life

The Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650 recharges through USB and has up to one month of battery life on a full charge, and an On/Off switch with a low-battery indicator light. The Logitech Touch Mouse T620 has a six-month battery life, and the Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 has an 18-month battery life. Similar to the touchpad, the Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 also features an On/Off switch and a low battery indicator light.

The battery life for each product is based on varying user and computing conditions.

Pricing and Availability

The Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650, Logitech Touch Mouse T620 and Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 are expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in October 2012, for a suggested retail price of $79.99, $69.99 and $49.99, respectively.

Interesting, no mouse wheel, I'm guessing you just slide your finger over the pad where the wheel should be this time.

i like the new mice, but i really start to wonder at why an OS is requiring all new mice, just because of its confusing new UI.

Meh it's just an excuse to bring out new stuff to the market. Not a bad thing imo.

Logitech has had a touch mouse similar to if not physically identical to the Touch Mouse above center with no buttons and no scroll wheel. Its about ~$30 now on Amazon. Logitech also has a touchpad out as well but it had a smaller active area and looked a little different.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Logitech Touchpad T650 worked in OS X and Linux as well. There is no reason to think its functionality is limited to metro. It will most certainly function in the Windows 8 classic environment as too.

I would like to try that Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650.

I have not been to thrilled by the touch mice that I have tried. They disappoint in the software department (drivers seem immature at this point).

EDIT:
xBruce88xJust like any other release of windows we'll start seeing a bunch of "new" hardware that "Supports Windows 8"
True, but, they will, also, have windows 7 support.

Got my Logitech Wireless Rechargeable Touchpad T650 about a week or so ago and it is not bad.
Still getting use to it.
Works great for everyday use on Windows 7 64-bit. However, it is touchy.
Using it side-by-side with a MS touch mouse and they get along nicely. Have had no driver issues as of yet.
The Logitech software needs to mature, by adding a little more customization options.

However, I, personally, still prefer mice.
