kupaloids427Yet another one of those LIKE Facebook contest... haven't people already had enough of faking themselves. I only see Facebook as another one of those dating sites for people who can't get laid in the real world. Just a bunch of people showing off all the fun things they do, the great friends they have and how supposedly creative they are. When in reality their life is so boring they don't do anything else but sit in front of their PCs post something and wait for someone to notice them.
I love both TPU and NZXT but why bother giving those people a chance to win these stuff when you have people here on TPU (or if you wish include other techsites) who are willing to participate and will actually appreciate winning these prizes. Thanks... but no thanks!:toast::toast::toast:
renosablastI sure do get tired of these facebook-only contests. This is actually illegal in many states in the US as an alternative method of entry is required so as not to discriminate. Do sites like TechPowerup not remember that a significant portion of their readership wants nothing to do with social media like facebook?

Bribing readers to post "likes" on facebook is certainly not a legitimate method of measuring a site's true readership. Good luck with that attitude.

"Facebook contests always get the results" -- you are only kidding yourself about "results". When the "results" are meaningless and self-fulflilling they are totally worthless. Facebook will be dead and gone in another 2 years or less -- what do your "results" mean then?
mediasorcererI dont have any time for facebook either, [id rather hang here to interact with fellow webizens],
but, nobody makes us enter, it does seem to be an increasing trend on many websites to run comps with fb unfortunately, so that counts me out, but thanx anyway w1zz, it's a generous and nice idea.
Agree with you 100%. But you got to consider this... w1z is an "investor" in facebook shares and he is hoping his little competition will increase the members on facebook and up the share price. HAHAHAHA. And if he isnt a shareholder then what's all this false LOVE?

I did not invest in FB. Was kinda clear that it's a waste of $$

I could care less about facebook or contests. TPU was doing fine without. Some people suggested "more contests". What do you need for more contests ? More stuff to give away. How do you get stuff to give away? You ask companies. When will you get stuff from companies? If they think they can benefit from it, which is FB in everyone's opinion, which is supported by the numbers.

It took me just a couple of hours to come up with all the necessary apps and plugins, so if something better comes up further down the road we'll use that. No problem.

Rest assured that we'll evaluate whether these contests are worth the trouble. It's looking good so far, but who knows.

It's pretty lame that people want to complain about FB contests at all (I know it's also lame of me to complain about how others are lame....) Speaking as someone who doesn't have FB and has no intention of having it, it doesn't bother me at all that TPU has a little contest and there's a link to FB. Rather than spew self-righteous nonsense, the haters should be taking initiative and show their own ideas, or better yet, host their own sort of giveaway contest.

And for those that don't have the social network urge and want to be disconnected, there are always other little contests and giveaways here at TPU that youre welcome to get in on.
:toast: to you W1zz and remember that most of us are that little yellow guy holding the sign :lovetpu:
(I hope that wasn't too lame lol)

I'm in too!

This is the future and eventually everything in our lives will be shared somehow. I used to be against all social media's and stuck with the rebel fleet, but I got over it.. and I don't mind free products for a hobby I am absolutely in love with. Thanks TPU for the opportunity ""fingers crossed** :lovetpu:

Exactly. And also for the people who live in countries where unrelated men and women are forbidden to talk to each other in public.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. ;More giveaways is good... and if these are the preconditions... then so be it. I guess a lot of peeps are disappointed by the fact they cannot participate in the competition... but there is something more - the association with FB suggests a different brand perception. Perhaps that is what irks some (incl. me).

So I kinda noticed you can enter an infinite amount of times and there being no mention of this in the T&C. Can we get some clarification on this?
Not that I really care, just curious.

Just my 2 cents: it is obvious that we have not done much on Facebook since we have the page. We are just as careful with personal information and value your opinion. Facebook is a means to have a win-win-win situation: TPU gets fans (and thus "added value) to the external companies, NZXT gets exposure and you can win something. Your personal information will not make it to facebook, we have no interest in using it for anything else but the contest. So after the end, one person is picked, an email sent, the prize delivered and then the lists are deleted.

We have done TPU webpage contests in the past and that is something we will certainly will be doing again :) Just trying things here to see how it goes.

Cheers,
DS

the whole point is discrimination

The whole point is that you are creating the perception (whether intentional or not) that you are discriminating against non-FB users by not allowing non-FB users to participate. I love TPU regardless, too, but c'mon already! Give EVERYONE an equal chance! Is that too much to expect? Obviously we, too, represent a significant portion of your 'readership'.

Really, discriminating all because the way the competition is held?

That's just like saying competitions that are held on any other site is discrimination from one another, oh wait and the rest of the world, damn... World War 3 over silly competitions, who'd of thought it.

It's just the way the cookie crumbles, don't like it then don't waste your energy fighting a loosing battle.

Clearly the majority are loving any type of competition and the fact that TPU is super careful not to pass on any of our details on to third parties should give you all all the trust you need from TPU as I've always felt I've had from them too.

why so much drama in here?

To all those anti-Fb members who want to participate in the contest, why not just create a dummy fb account / email? You don't have to add your personal info if you don't want too.

Sounds like a personal problem. If you don't want to join facebook don't post complaining about facebook contests if anyone is discriminating its you against facebook.
