Crysis 3 to Ship with High-Resolution Textures

Unlike Crysis 2, which felt rushed in due to the lack of DirectX 11 support and mediocre-looking textures at higher display resolutions, Crysis 3 will come with every feature PC enthusiasts can feed their hardware with, including high-resolution textures. PC Gamer discovered that the retail version of Crysis 3 Advanced Graphics Options menu includes a texture-resolution setting, something the very first version of Crysis 2 lacked, and was made available after a 2-odd gigabyte high-res texture pack add-on was installed. Given its post-apocalyptic urban/tropical setting, we expect the game to have generally high texture variety, especially to make objects such as foliage, natural outgrowth, and destroyed buildings, not to mention worn out urban elements, to look organic.

I wonder if the tessellation will be a mess again like in 2.

And how low has the gaming fallen...you need confirmation that it will come with high-res textures which should of been a standard and not even questionable.

hardcore_gamerWill it ship with proper open world gameplay ?
Personally, I'm expecting something like Arkham City.

This is great news but its not enough.

Crysis 1 is open world with an environment that is virtually completely destructable.

Still a step backwards.

Crysis 2 wasn't lacking DX11. I was yelled at by [sarcasm]very intelligent people[/sarcasm] who informed me this was a free add on that EA gave us out of the kindness of their hearts.

How kind of them to give me this add on, that I felt I had already paid for, and that made very little difference to the picture quality but made my system slow to a crawl.

[sarcasm]I so looking forward to Crysis 3.[/sarcasm]

Thats the thing, high res textures are nice but only like 8% of gamers will have a good enough computer to run them.

I'll believe it when i see it. They also bragged about graphics for Crysis 2 and we got a horrid flat textures mess with DX9 effects.

And as far as high res textures go, UT99 had them as well back in 1999 on a separate dedicated CD. One would expect a 2012 title to have high resolution textures out of the box without any special bragging...

It's not a step backwards for profit though. If the environment in crysis 3 is virtually completely destructible and the graphics style is still the same, I highly doubt that current or even next-gen high-end cards can endure the torture.

Its not completely open. It hides it pretty well though.

IT COMES WITH A F***ING TEXTURE OPTION? Well rip off my balls and call me Tracey, it's not like almost every other god damned game for PC also has a freaking texture quality setting, but now these morons are advertising it as some kind of special addon?
Just shows how desperate they are to polish their turd.

A lot of games these days dont have that option. Also I'm curious about how big textures we're talking here.

I will play it when it's released, if someone else buys it for me ಠ_ಠ

Seriously.. with all the recent EA PC games I have paid full price for.. I just don't care anymore, I'm not trolling, I'm not angry, I honestly do not care for EA anymore.

Crysis was an awesome game. It had everything going for it. Crysis 2 still had pretty decent graphics in my opinion, not the best though. That was about all crysis 2 had. I wont hold my breath for crysis 3.

Would be interesting to see how close those pre-rendered screenshots compared to ingame.

I hope this game brings my 7970s to their knees, make them beg for mercy, and then cut their hands off
I hope it's a more interesting play through than C2, which I thought was very uninspiring. I guess the best mindset is to not expect much and be pleasantly surprised come release

But, is the game any good? If they butchered the story like they did in Crysis 2 then no thanks.

I'm still not sure how they butchered the story in the second game. I enojyed it as much as the first game (which isn't a lot, but still some).

I hope it's better and more thorough than what they released for Crysis 2. You could barely tell the difference, and the issue wasn't the resolution they just weren't very detailed textures.

I guess I was expecting a continuation of the first Crysis. They left it on a cliffhanger and then with Crysis 2 it's they just ignored Crysis 1 (but obviously incorporated some elements in for the story). That's just me though, I have a friend who loves Crysis 2 to death.
