Samsung launches 10 megapixel cameraphone.

The SCH-B600 was announced back in March, but it has officially begun shipping in Samsung's native South Korea. The amazing 10 megapixel camera onboard has 3x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom, as well as auto-focus and flash. The phone also can receive television broadcasts, and can be an MP3 player as well as a classic phone. It will cost KRW900,000 ($939/£506/€749) to South Korean Telecom customers, and it should be released in the USA and Europe soon.

10MP on a phone? Guessing the quality won't be as good as a 10MP camera but £500 isn't bad for something liek that.

It looks like there is a built in flash. Maybe it wouldn't be that bad in the dark?

Amazing how people can make such assumptions about a product before either using it or reading reviews of people using them. You should just tell us all the stuff we shouldn't buy to save us the problems you think we'll have with it.

Samsung has released 3, 5, and 7 megapixel camera phones in korea. I did a lot of research on the 7 megapixel camera a year ago. It came out in 2004. I guess they just don't think there's much market for these in the US. You gotta remember, they are releasing it to the korean market...we probably wont see this stuff for a year or more.

I'd rather have a large sensor 3mp camera, vs a high density 10mp cam. light sensitivity has to be next to nothing on that camera.

more isnt always better.. I use an 8MP Canon DSLR digital camera.. Canon's old 3mp digital cameras had about 1.25"x.75" CMOS's, and it could compare to todays 8mp and 12mp cameras. The quality of the image is in the optics. The MP's only let you blow up your image to posterboard size vs 4x6", and if you need to crop, the more MP's help keep quality.

small camera always have poor flash coverage, you gonna get red eyes so much...they become useless after 4-5ft. also large MP cams that are in small units have a so-so ccd and get pixelated pics and have off colors.

also, i read the review...i know my cams pretty well. that is why pros uses such a large flash, have camera with the highest quallity ccd.

Well my 6280 has a 2MP camera (with a flash) it isn't awful and for what the flash is I'm impressed but it still doesn't compare to a good brand 2MP camera. My folks 3.1MP kodak is leaps and bounds better, colour is more acurate, sharper image, less anomalies in the image. I know the 6280 isn't regarded as one of the best 2MP camera phones but from my experience none of the camera phones have the quality to compete with a dedicated camera yet, and I don't think this 10MP will be much different.

Camera vs phone camera, the normal camera will not be beaten (unless your talking about those really small credit card cameras)

Like think about it, a digital camera is generally bigger than a phone. If they can fit a 10mp camera in a phone, then why would they have such big digital cameras? Its cus the digital cameras have more componentry cus they are better :)
