New Portable USB Crash Cart Adapter Turns a Laptop into a Portable Console

StarTech.com, a leading manufacturer of hard-to-find connectivity parts, has announced the availability of a new Portable USB Crash Cart Adapter (NOTECONS02). The adapter makes it easier for server technicians and field engineers to perform maintenance on servers, PCs, ATMs, kiosks and other headless devices by turning their laptop into a portable console, instead of using a conventional - and more cumbersome - server room crash cart. The NOTECONS02 is the second crash cart adapter from StarTech.com, and builds on the popularity of the previous model with the addition of local file transfer capability and improved USB transfer speed.
"The portable crash cart adapter offers technicians the features they need to simplify and expedite their work, without the hassle of using a full-scale server room crash cart" said Matt Burton, Product Manager for StarTech.com's line of Server Management products. "This adapter builds on the features offered by our original portable crash cart adapter with the addition of direct file transfer capability. Previously, administrators were limited to either the Internet or a separate storage device to load data onto the server being accessed, but the Portable USB Crash Cart Adapter lets you drag and drop directly from the laptop you're already using as a console."
Features of the Portable USB Crash Cart Adapter (NOTECONS02) include:
  • BIOS-level control of connected servers and devices
  • Direct, drag-and-drop file-sharing between laptop and connected server
  • Compact footprint design, with integrated KVM cables
  • USB-powered performance (drawing from the USB connection to the server/device)
  • High-resolution graphical support (up to 1920x1200)
MSRP for StarTech.com's Portable USB Crash Cart Adapter (NOTECONS02) is £318.08 (GBP exc. VAT) in the UK.
