AMD Rolls Out Catalyst 14.7 RC

AMD rolled out version 14.7 RC (beta) of its Catalyst software suite. With this version, AMD discontinues support for Windows 8 (WDDM 1.2), and expects you to upgrade to Windows 8.1 (WDDM 1.3) for free, to continue receiving driver support. Older versions of Windows, namely Windows Vista and Windows 7, are unaffected. Catalyst 14.7 RC adds all the improvements of 14.6 RC, with added CrossFire performance for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, improved CrossFire scaling at Ultra HD resolution for Assassins Creed IV. The driver also comes with a workaround for an issue faced by users of AOC U2868PQU display, who notice flickering on Radeon GPUs. In addition to the workaround, AMD recommends that you apply the latest firmware for your displays.

Yeah. Screw those crossfire-users. Leave them in the dark becuase it's called plants vs zombies.
Regardless of the fact that it's a popular game and its rendered with the frostbyte 3 engine

I bet when they say "crossfire optimized for Wolfenstein: The New Order" you think they are talking about Wolfenstein 3D.

No, I know what Wolfenstein: The New Order is, I fail to see the relevance in your comment. Pray tell, how you intend to out sarcasize the man himself.

(In case you're all that gullible, I am aware that Garden Warfare exists, unfortunately)

Seems like you try to cover up some assumptions and ignorance

Yeah really, but maybe the performance was that bad to start with and because you play demanding games don't mean you don't enjoy low end games though.

Come on guys lets cool it on all the hating, why can't we all live in harmony :)

But anyway cool ill have to download it today when I get off work!

Why do people dislike a CFX profile? I mean yea the game may not be that demanding, however in the past people complained about slow release of CFX profiles and now were complaining about to many??? I mean any profile is always helpful.

Because everyone thinks their opinions are stronger and should be forced upon others. :)

Of course, CF profile for any game is helpful but I guess people are laughing because they think the game itself is too low and laughable to deserve such type of support.

After all, I don't even know what that game is and I guess after reading these feedbacks to it, I won't even try it. :)

but 14.6 was the same, with the text "A future AMD Catalyst release will allow for the WDDM 1.1 (Windows 7 driver) to be installed under Windows 8.0 for those users unable to upgrade to Windows 8.1"

do not make it sound like it's the end of the line for windows 8

I'm with you. I'm a crossfire user and I actually chuckled when I read the added cfx performance for PvZ:GW. Now I haven't played the game, but it sounded funny regardless.

It is indee the end of life for windows8. It was horrible and Microsoft acknowledged that by giving everyone a free upgrade to 8.1.

And I'll bet that those people will be laughing even harder if SLI is faster. It's a GE game they have to fully optimize for it.

Works great for me, but funny enough I noticed that under the GPU driver on my computer it is still listed as 14.6RC even with 14.7 installed.

every beta thread... www.kn00tcn.net/site/fix-for-wrong-catalyst-driver-versions-being-displayed/

there have been bugs before where the new version wasnt being written, there have been betas where the new version wasnt put in on purpose, the catalyst version is completely useless & no software should use it alone

nvidia is the same, how can both of them be using a plain text string that anyone can change?

I've had many problems with the AMD drivers, even the catalyst won't work right.
